What exactly is Red Bull? Red Bull is some sort of energy drink, which is liquid. Speaking of liquid, what does that remind you of? Right, Liquipedia, the wiki, the database, the bible of esports. Seems like there is some connection between Red Bull and esports eh?

OK, so what are the player colours in Red Bull Wololo? Red and yellow. Now what comes to your mind for some liquid which is yellow in colour? Beer? Think further. Yes, The Yellow River, a river in China. Who won Redbull Wololo 1? Mr. Yo, the best Chinese AOE2 player of all time, which got beaten by DauT in the quarterfinals in RBW3, hmmmmm......

What about the remaining colour, red? A location which has something to do with red and liquid, the Red Sea comes to mind. Now lets take a look at the map, the Red Sea lies between Africa and Asia.

What were the last two expansions of AOE2HD again? The African Kingdoms and Rise of the Rajas. At this point, Im not surprised anymore.

Lets have a quick recap here. At the start of each game in Red Bull Wololo 1, the starting scouts got replaced by camels, animals which got seen the most in the Middle East. Now speaking of Middle East, what comes to your mind? Desert.

What was the largest non-invitational 1v1 AOE2 tournament before Red Bull Wololo 3? King of the Desert 3. Who was the winner of KotD3? Interesting enough, it was Liereyy, who also won Red Bull Wololo 2. Coincidence? Guess not.

Camels... Desert... Wait a minute, arent camels also called ship of the desert? Now what is the most important in sailing with ships? Rig. Now lets have a closer look at the map once again. Which country is at the top of the Red Sea? Israel.

So explain to me... how does an (allegedly) slow, old player with bad micro win a tournament in most cutthroat game mode where always 17 things are happening at once and one small mistake can cost you everything? And how does he win it against the reigning champion and arguably the fastest and brightest player (maybe ever) in the game?
I don't know really, but I think it has something to do with strategy and style. And I think he might not be that slow after all. Great day for Daut and all his fans (aka everybody with a beating heart) and certainly one to remember.

Really happy for Daut, i remember how he came so close to beating Hera in HC3 and how sad he was because he threw it.

We have waited a long long time for this..Never imagined that his victory would be so sweet..The other supporters don't feel so bad when their player loses because you know your player tried his best during the match..It never felt so when you support Daut..I pulled my hair every time Daut would not wall an easy wall-off, go for the extravagant castles, just not micro his ranged army and just give up on his mangonels/monks..Yes, I'm bald now, if you're still wondering..It was frustrating because we always knew he had the best macro and though his APM isn't that great, it was the other simple things that were letting him down..We had to wait for team games where Tyrant/Secret played to see him win..Oh, how much we love his pocket gameplay going with 3-4 TC boom on TGs with Tatitoh slinging him..

We had almost come to terms that top 8 is the best finish that we can expect from our master..But, something was different in the last 2-3 big tournaments..He played really well as Princess Yodit and was in top shape for KOTD3 where he beat Lierry in the group stage like how Bayern beat Barca in the last year's CL..But, even there when everyone expected him to reach the final with the favorable bracket, he lost to Villese in a close set in the QF..I believe he only played AoE 3 for a month after that and called himself a "washed up AoE 2 player"..He was dejected..We could feel that this time it hurt him more than the other times..

But there was new trend emerging..DauT coming out and proclaiming that he is practicing a lot and that things just arent easy for him..He openly claimed that he cant beat the young uns in meta gameplay..He is trying the beat them with offbeat strategies to put them off..And in hidden cup after the first round, everyone was like Who is the princess with such cool strategies..

RB Wololo 3 when he lost to Capoch in the group stage, i was certain it is the same story again and an other early exit. But boy-oh-boy did he not disappoint us..He has played some of the scintillating games of EW that one can imagine..The Cavalry Archers wrecking havoc every single time he used them..He used Koreans and absolutely bossed it(Viper's plan)..And last but not the least, he beat Tartars on Acclivity with Mayans with a FC-Plumed Archers on Empire Wars..He should be checked up by a doctor just for coming up with this idea..The nostalgia associated with Daut and plumed archers is crazy..He has been playing them for a long long time and him closing the game with them was just inevitable..

The joy and elation that followed is something that cant be described..It was poetry in motion when DauT attacked with with his fast moving ranged units..Quite a few of us shed a tear today..Thanks for giving us unadulterated Joy today, DauT..

And sorry for Dauting you, our apology should be as loud as our disrepecc was!!

This was one of the greatest days in Age of Empires history and in some ways felt a bit like Tiger Woods winning his comeback major in golf, except unlike Tiger, Daut is actually a great human being and not a piece of trash!

The scene has surely never been in a better place, this final was between the youngest ever winner of a major in the last 10 years against one of the oldest players in the scene and a true living legend who has been playing the game since it was first released. That Daut won is huge because it proves the game is not all about reaction speed and APM, but that first and foremost that Age is a strategy game, which is why it's been loved by so many for such a long time.

This wasn't just a victory for Daut, but for Age of Empires as a whole.

I watched every big tournament in 2020 and was never stressed like I was yesterday, I really wanted Daut to win. And then he saved a match point with Koreans and won the decider with Mayans, total madness! I love it!
Lierry also played very well but Daut strategies were the better ones.

What I personally find most amazing is not the incoming new Daut memes nor the fact that he won a huge RTS tournament at age 35 or any of that. Instead, what makes me the happiest is the fact that Daut showed everyone:

He is not a meme. He is not primarily Dautcastle or LordDaut or WashedUp, he is an amazing pro player with crazy RTS skills. Easily top3 of this game all time. Even if the memes are all in good fun and not malicious, I still think it is absolutely great to see that Daut can school everyone, simply by amazing gameplay, great strategies, cool game sense.

Hats off to Daut, the pro player, who is also really sympathetic, nice and humble.

At minute 25 Daut remain without a single town center. I said ... ok, in 1 minute will be GG.
The guy played 8 minutes with no Town Center Then made a TC not to create vills but to go to Imperial ... WTF?
It was so much fun to watch how Daut has the "gift" to destabilize Liereyy strategy with 1-2 outside the box moves. Nobody was able to do that to Liereyy in that tournament except Daut.

I've always been a fan of DauT ever since watching Resonance22's 'break the meta' videos, but I thought he'd never be able to win another major 1v1 tournament again, so to watch DauT win a major tournament while breaking the meta is just so amazing. One of the best tournaments in aoe2 history.

The previous day Dave even said on commentary "It feels like Daut has levelled up!" Daut wasn't just the best player on Sunday, he was the best player for several days and a worthy overall winner. He cut out a lot of silly mistakes such as risky Castles and also had some excellent raids, such as with his early MAA pressure when picking Bulgarians earlier in the tournament. He has definitely improved, but his underlying strengths are macro, strategy and decision making. That's why for many he is our hero, because he wins because he outsmarts his opponent rather than having the reflexes of a cat.

I don't even think the tournament win is that surprising. He beat Lierry in KOTD3 and should really have got past Vilesse, even though Vilesse also deserves massive praise for how much he has improved in the last 12 months. Daut was also giving Hera a really tough time in Hidden Cup and should have beaten him.

But the amazing thing is he did win. The fact that the entire community collectively lost their minds over his victory shows you how popular he is, and what it means to them. Speaking personally, I have never been more excited to play Age, even at a mid level. His victory is inspiring!

The craziest thing is, you can look back at DauT's tournament performances over the last year and kind of see this coming. He didn't do the best at NAC3, but right before the grand final, he faced Villese in a showmatch using this variant game mode that had just been introduced by DE...and Nili had to change it from a Best of 5 to a Play 5 Games match midway through because DauT won three games in a row too quickly.

Then in Fair Civs Cup, he was the only player to take Viper to 7 games, something Liereyy and Hera failed to do in the semis and finals. Then came HC3, where he narrowly lost to the runner-up in a series where at least two of the 5 games could have easily gone to him if things had shaken out a bit better for him. Then came King of the Desert, where he actually beat the eventual tournament champ, taking game 5 with a strategy nobody had ever seen before...using an Age of Kings civ on Arabia! That's like watching someone come up with an original proof for the Pythagorean Theorem, but it worked really well, and only a reverse sweep by an unexpectedly strong Villese kept him from the semifinals.

DauT's low-key been turning in extremely solid performances for most of the DE era, and pushing even the top 4 players to the limit even if he had trouble getting past quarterfinals. A finals appearance or even a victory was simply a question of things shaking out just right, and so they have.
