That's pretty much a given from marketing PoV...Wait, does it at 0:14 say "surprising reveals" for Aoe2DE???
New DLC here we come!
I very much doubt it's another civ DLC so soon after LOTW, especially since the new civs are so UP and need balancing and possibly reworks. Maybe we'll just have a big patch like the one 3 DE had recently with things like resource income per minute and unit range indicators. That's pretty much a given from marketing PoV...
Timing wise they need to get a DLC out before AoE4 to grab your money in AoE 2 and/or Aoe3 DE. Once you've grown tired of that they'll let you buy AoE4
I also thought of total war tbh. Liked those games, especially the ones set in antiquity and the middle ages, but I am not sure how well their mechanics translate to an Age of empires gameThe couple of AoE4 shots we got look mediocre, it looks more like a Total War game than an Age of Empires game.
I would really like to see AoE4 becoming successful, because I just want a game where everyone is starting from level zero You might argue people like Viper have so much RTS experience, but yeah thats not what I meant
That is a fine use of the term actually. There is a certain style to the "standard" RTS during the original transition to 3D engines (CnC Generals/Battle for Middle Earth/AoE3 are all great examples) and what I have seen here of AoE4 is reminiscent of those games. I just asked basically because I was thinking of other RTS games like the Total War series as Jarvin mentioned earlier or Supreme Commander that are 3D but do not have quite that same feel.Just the looks of it basically. Probably a wrong term, not an English native and 2D-RTS fan here.
How do you assume that pro players already played the alpha version and now are playing beta? Just curiousI think I need to disappoint you, I'm assuming that the pros of different games in the franchise are playing AoE4 since 2019 in it's alpha stage, while others in the community are already playing a beta and give constant feedback to the developers. So starting from "level zero" is not really possible here and I think the "meta" will be heavily influenced by this feedback.
You are right about the issues but as I understand AoE4 is not needed to fix them, only the reimplementation of AoE2 on a new engine that DE should have been.I've had enough of the terrible pathfinding and all the issues the old AoE2 engine brings which makes you feel like you are playing against the game at times. For this reason AoE2 will always be for a niche audience, hardly attracting new players en masse, no matter how many new DLCs we get.
We need change and proper massive player base as the likes of SC2. AoE4 is the only opportunity for that.
