Guys, first post here so please move if it's not in the right place.
I had an idea for tournament (or perhaps just a series of showmatches) that I'd like to run past you all: what about a 1 v 1, primarily land map-based pro tournament where players can only pick the "bottom" 10-15 civs, i.e. those civs that were seldom or never picked during either KOTD2 or NAC2 (Persians, Saracens, Goths, Portuguese, Italians, Vietnamese, Khmer, Teutons, Koreans, Magyars, Turks, and I might even throw Ethiopians in there). The idea here is for the pro players to play some high-quality games, with money on the line, with these civilizations in hopes of discovering something new about them--new strengths, new strategies, etc.-- or even just to confirm that yep, they do kinda suck in 1 v 1.
I have no idea if the players would be interested in this, but as a viewer I absolutely would be. Just because a civ isn't top tier doesn't mean it's not super interesting. And think about it: this time last year no one was picking Slavs, and now people say they're super OP and "broken". My guess? In a year's time one or more of the civs in this group will have made it's way to the "top tier" in the players' minds. Anyway, thoughts? Would you as a viewer want this?
