I don't think it's a reason to ban him. It is annoying, but not cheating. I would be very surprised if he does it every game.

If it happens repeatedly, we can think about a penalty, but not a ban.

If it's true (hiding villagers in the corners just to extend the game etc.) then it should not be allowed and should result in Admin Loss - as it's (imo) not good sportsmanship.

Annoying as it can be, it's a part of the game. But someone from his team should tell him about sportsmanship.

I once was in a chess tournament playing against a kid. I had a completely won position and more than 15 points of material advantage and this kid just stopped playing with one hour on his clock. At one point I went to the arbiter and told him I had a mate in max. 5 but he told me he could do nothing, I could just wait for 1 hour and that was all.

Nevertheless, the arbiter went to speak with the teacher/trainer/father of the kid. He inmediately went to talk to the kid and 10 minutes after he had resigned (or moved, cannot remember)

Maybe not cheating as such, but the tournament does (very sensibly) have rules enforcing "Respect & Sportsmanship," which I'd say are very firm grounds to throw him out if he does start hiding vils.

Edit: I don't think it's worth the hassle of a ban before the event starts based on his ladder behaviour, though, although I do think that events should start considering adding a clause in the rules that's the equivalent of other sports' rules about sign-ups not bringing evens into 'disrepute'.

Honestly, if that happens during a tournament:
-It pisses off opponent and wastes his time (not good conditions when you're trying your best in a tournament)
-It brings negativity such as hate in chat (when tournaments are casted which is often the case)
-Casters are unable to do their job (they didn't sign up for casting hide and seek)
-It can disrupt schedules (it often happens but it's generally because of an intense post-imp war, which is legit, no need to add more delay because kids don't like to lose)
-It can turn down potential sponsors who watch tournaments

Part of the game or not I think there are enough ingredients to say admin win GG next

I think doing it in the tournament is different from doing it in a ranked game though. We don't even know if he does this regularly or if this is just a one-off occurance. If we were to ban players who hid villagers once in a game we'd have to ban MbL as well and I think there'd be multiple other players that would get banned.

Now if he did it in a tournament game I imagine it would break the Sportsmanship rules and he would get punished, but I don't see any reason to ban him for hiding villagers in one ranked game.

The great Kellar once put rude palisade foundations around my TC as my pocket so I couldn't farm and I think he should definitely be allowed to participate. If we let those known spec cheaters from Mexico play we should for sure let this guy play aswell. This is just silly.

just like losing team in football will make unnecessary contacts or winning team will stall the game for time

With most of the tournaments/ladder games having no time limit (I am not saying it should have a time limit), I am also experiencing a lot of games in ladder where people simply don't resign when it is over. They drag the game to more than an hour because they just don't want to lose juicy puntos and they make opponent resign.

In those cases, I just simply resign as I barely have time to play 2 hours and I would rather play a new game which is more fun. But it should not happen in tournaments. It is just abusing the loopholes in the system. As DE is gaining more and more popularity, the rules should be made more precise imo.

If you are at the point where your opponent cant make anything except hiding vills and you cant finish him you dont deserve the win.
Resigning implies that you (as the losing player) know that your opponent can defeat you.

thats diffrent tho, because in chess you have to wait. In age you can just play and finish even if the opponent doesnt "agree" to lose.

But even in chess you only resign because you are convinced your opponent knows how to defeat you from this position on.

Comon, if he hides his remaining vill in the corner and walls it in, it is time for admins to see, that the game is over and this just a BM gg call and give AW to other player. Not anything technically allowed by the game is considerable of being actually part of tournaments... Same logic would imply you dont need any sport rules, since playing a soccer ball with the hand is part of the world, the human bodies . Rules are there to constraint what is technically possible but not liked to be seen to keep the spirit of the game. And waiting for 30 mins until your rams have tore down the stonewalls is nothing of that.

@MuscleChamp It is not about not being able to, its about bad manners and useless waste of time. You can make always the opposing player responsible for the deeds of the others, like: " If he cant win with a broken leg due to a harsh foul, he doesnt deserve the win. Question would be: Does he or the other in return deserve the win more then.

He's most likely been doing it in regular games and will most likely not do something like that in an official tournament. This is a spite post and nothing else. Just for thinking such a claim would get someone banned is reason enough to ignore the author.
