AOE-II 1v1 huns war..how to beat that drush??

ok guys m fed up of this drush now.

elarier i used to do the 22 pop and 4 scout + archers

but this seems to fail every time now..the enemy comes with 3 miltia and scout and disturbs my eco.
this just haunts me. i try to make archers and go to his base but he is walled..bahhh

i make my eco and he is in castel age. i click castel and he has CA on my eco already and its gg

so how to beat the drush?? whats the best trick??

When i have time (in 1 year) i would invent something to kill that emo drush like i did (for my self) with scrush. Once i did 19pop and trushed one 1800s with 0 loses and he couldnt even up feudal 11. But i dont think that can always work.

I may sound like and ***** (because I`m still 1500 player), but I`m curious what would happen if you forward drusher aggressively, like pushing him with towers, your scout, pikes, skirms (archers as soon as possible) and adding scouts later (when you can).

He has almost no military until >16'00" (except those 3 militia and a scout), while an effective flush attack starts at 10'~11'. Wall your choke points with palisades (usually only a few on the right place are enough) so he can`t annoy you, and proceed with an aggressive flush (trush), denying him his resources. That drush + FC is very resource dependable, each small error (or being unable to collect the resources when you need them) moves the FC further away. No matter if he`s walling himself in, if so, build towers on his walls, try to reach those resources.

I would really like to see good flushers trying something like that, being aggressive and not letting their enemy even reach the feudal (lol, but it`s true), instead of trying to copy the very same drush + FC tactics... :/

I recomend to you watch Cain vs Daut @Arabia in BCC3. I think 6 men at arms+ 2 forward range is a good counter to this strategy. As BugA said, Drush+FC is a very resource dependable strat. With 6 M@A+ 3 of your forward vills, you could take off the tower at his gold. While you are attacking there, other vill build a tower at wood. With this, you take is eco down, and probably he doesnt get the enough gold to click Castle.

well for beating dauts 3 militia then ca...thats a whole new story.

but drush rite now is the lamest and best strat...its very OP...but ironically at the same time at 1500-1900 level or so it can be easily beaten by a smart enemy in some cases...tho sometimes tehir map is perfect for it and u need to just do it better.

back in my hayday frwd was giving alot fo ppl problems, and i fwd 99% of times like my nigga funebre here... because back then if u did 22/23/ even 24p fwd and they went SC u are in the drivers seat....whereas the best counter was to try and go 23p (assuming u were vs 23 or 24p fwd) and go ranges and vill war. but back then ppl used to ask me (as a fwd whore) whats best way to beat fwd? and id always reply "with a better fwd 11" which is plausable now...the most logical way to beat drush fc CA is with a better drush fc CA 11...a better castle age in other words.

but if you are looking to straight up counter it there are many ways to do so, if u shut down there gold they are ****ed! if u make them move their wood they are slowed down ...imo the strat cain and riut have used going an extra militia and m@a then ranges...that is a very smart counter.... tho there are many ways to counter it...ive been on smurfs trying different things vs it and some work well, sometimes they fail miserably...but the best advice is to be VERY aggressive . unfortunately ppl tend to just copy a strat rather than counter it.

i wuld say to experiemnt when they have a vulnerable map to fwd tower whore and go skirm/arch or the new m@a thing.. but if their map is good, back gold, back woods then ur better off going to castle age and hoping to outplay them.

anyway id love to see it get countered because i hate that 1v1 ara just becomes lamer and lamer and more gay as time goes on. so keep trying new stuff to counter it!

i am 15xx too so i might have made tactical mistakes but this is about a game of mine

I played a 17xx sometime ago he did scouts while i drush. all went well for both of us so it was hard to determine winner in feudal. I castled at some 17:xx

when i did CA he had like 20 archs/skirm which stopped me until he castled (with aid of walls)

From there he just out played me with Xbows and 4 ranges :D

Summary: I was lucky to find boar+sheep quickly even stole 2 sheep from him, but had kind of south wood which I hate because I am unable to micro it. He loses sc and comes with 3 militias around 10min, I put out 2 militias and pull the sc back, thinking I can somehow hill-battle him I lose badly. All along I was thinking, drush+fc, you need to push now... Anyway I go a few sc kill his militia and run to enemy town taking 4 villies. Otw I see his forward base (2 archeries), unsuitable to wall around, I go back make some walls, some skirms (lots of hit and run) and when I was able to put a tower on his gold he castled soon.

At this point I thought, so let him be castle, put second barracks and third archery and started pumping spears + archers, at some point he brought in mangonels, which is IMHO was just unfair (translates gg . I still want to think it is the economy, since I enjoy staying in feudal pushing with lots of with archs and spears vs his few-in-numbers castle troops

So my opinion is I should have been more aggressive, I think I got suprised by his forward archeries since I was expecting him to fc after drush... I am eager to hear your comments.

Hi, for a start, check this patch to solve your problems And when you`re posting recorded games, pack them (.zip), they become much, much smaller (in KB).

I am unrated, as I don't play on Voobly.

But here are some tips to counter drush:

First, what is the intention of a Drush?
Most of the early age attacks are for one reason, which is to slow down the economy.
So, Best way to counter it is to not let the enemy do that.

Now the Big Question is how do you do that?
Some tips:
1. Paliside wall your important resources, in a way that it protects the villagers. Most soft targets are Lumberjack and Forager in dark age (You would not be mining if you are not Drusing, but if you are do that too). Dark age army can hardly breach the walls.
2. Focus on Wood. Reason is: You would need for Skims and Food.
3. Try to rush to Fuedal, and beat with Archers. 2 - 3 will do.
4. Now what if you have not been able to wall urself, well your best bet is to fight with villagers and Scout. You need strong micro management for this. Down side is you might lose one or two villagers in the process.
5. Pump more villagers, this might slow down Fuedal rush to some extent but it will help with resources, if some of the villagers are fighting.
5. Most important: Don't get too busy with the fight and lose focus on resources. Any fight should not panic you.

Again, easier said than done. So practice with friends and online :ugeek:

For the sake of completenes, I watched the record with the small trees patch and saw my woodies walking 2-3 tiles to the south wood, which was on elevation so big trees hid that.... I quitted the game in late feudal and looked at the resources. I saw that everthing was more or less the same but that my opponent had gathered +500 wood. So, for me, that would be the reason why I was late...

Also funny when I discover his forward, he moves the villagers back and forth a few times... I think he was surprised as was I

Summarising, +1 for small trees patch, weird but it really gives you an edge...

ah.. i will never use pussywood or other "patches"
it makes my aoc ugly! i like the original version and maybe it is a disadvantage but i like it in original way
