Many here love watching AoE2 streams and especially tournaments. What makes the game so fun to watch? Aside from things like nostalgia, habit, playing the game yourself or the Medieval setting.
To me, AoE2 is so much fun to watch mostly for two reasons, especially when compared to other games...
Most people seemingly only talk negatively about top players and their dynasty ending. So time for a short praise of Jordan:
He is obviously extremely positive and sympathetic as a person. However, beyond that he has proven in recent months that he is a top player, a force to be reckoned with...
Who do you think will do well in the first AoE4 tournament: Genesis?
This topic is not about complaints regarding who had more time to practice, but simply about the chances of different players we know will participate. I haven't been able to follow many AoE4 streams so far, so I don't know...
This topic is not original but similar to videos like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzyQbfh4t_8
In the wake of the "FB gaming" trend I thought it makes sense to bring it up again. It does offer food for thought and IMO raises important questions. Don't get me wrong, this is by no...
This thread is not about t90, but rather about FB Gaming as a whole, regarding its functionality, role and purpose. This is also not about Facebook as a company or its ethics.
Personally, I find Facebook Gaming just a horrible idea overall. Even disregarding the fact that many younger people...
In his "What happened in... September 2021", Nili talked about
"other really big news"
that will impact AoE more than Red Bull. Has there been any speculation on this? Or any news

There has always been some criticism of inviting players to events rather than having them qualify. Of course this makes it harder for newcomers to get into major tournaments - I find that sad as well.
However, it is crazy how good the invited players often/usually perform. RBW4 is a great...
Performance and strength in AoE2 are obviously the result of many different factors: Talent, practice, preparation, current form etc. There is also a degree of randomness/luck with regards to maps, draws, opponent (random brackets e.g.).
However, after watching many games of top level play, I'm...
Yes, gameplay>graphics. But why not have both? Or at least have decent/good graphics? Sadly, AoE4 really disappoints me in terms of art direction and graphics. E.g. have a look at the recent gameplay trailer, particularly the water: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSdbdEdxQr8
- the water looks...
Mr 7-0 has lost the last couple of tournament series vs. TheViper. He also lost to both Jordan and Daut in HC4 and RBW3, respectively.
The last 1v1 tournament he has actually won was RBW --1--, over a year ago. Before that, his only notable 1v1 victory was the Mangrove Shallows Cup.
Of course AoE2 is mostly a skill-based game, especially at the top level: strategic choices, game awareness, speed, apm, micro, macro, decision making, build order etc. are all extremely important.
However, there are of course still elements of luck and randomness:
- map generation (safe...
Not trying to create drama or hate on anyone, but this is something I've seen several people in chat asking, for example during RBW2, but even way before.
Is it just me or does t90 not particularly like Viper? I do know they know each other in person and seem to get along okay there, but I...
Does anyone else find it a bit weird or concerning that Viper and Nili promoted signing up to online poker in their last weekend event?
I do realize that:
- (online) Poker is legal
- nobody is forced to sign up
- people are (probably) required to be adults for signing up
- Viper and Nili make a...
After watching HC3 and many previous tournaments, which maps do you think are especially suitable for tournaments? You can mention general aspects you like seeing in maps (e.g. water maps, wallable or not, hills, type of terrain etc.) or also specific maps that you like or dislike. Obviously...
I know this is going to sound like the biggest fanboy post, but can we please talk about this?
How absolutely crazy is it, that Viper managed to not only yet again win a major tournament (notably a tournament that was in part created to NERF him by making his opponents not be afraid of who they...
So, day1 of HC3 has passed and day2 is upon us, who do you think is who so far and why?
I didn't watch all the games so far unfortunately, but from what I read in chat and after game predictions people mostly said:
1. Charlemagne - BacT
2. King Sancho (?) - some people claimed Viper due to the...
With the announcement of Hidden Cup 3, I thought it could make sense to start a discussion about the Hidden Cup format.
The point of this is not to tell t90 how to host tournaments. Obviously he objectively knows that better than me. Also, it is his and his supporters' money, not mine, so their...
After many tournaments with civ drafting, the alternative format free hidden pick, no repeat has truly returned with NAC3. Considering the importance of that tournament, it seems likely that this isn't an isolated incident but rather indicative of a shift in opinions.
Obviously the previous...
