I think Nili made the right call and as many point out already 50K is already super top-tier. But in a context where a lot of tech companies (usual sponsors of these type of things) are cutting costs big time it's (unfortunately) understandable that AOE $ has scaled back.
The AOE4 comments are...
Amazing tournament so far, I don't mind the b-stream at all, obviously it would've been better to have BO5s and all on just one stream, but let's appreciate how amazing this is and looking forward to the weekend ahead.
Don't make it all single elimination please, that would be horrible. But, alas, 16 participants is a lot, don't know what else they can come up with...
I would personally cancel the AOE4 piece and make it all AOE2 :o-o:
Honestly, all what Chrazini wrote makes a lot of sense. Can the whole communication be better? Sure, but if MBL would've stayed in the chat for 5 more minutes there wouldn't have been a problem. Charazini told him to stay, and he left anyway.
The admin job's is hard enough to then cope with...
Amazing tournament thank you Memb for putting it together and congrats to AM!
I also dig BO9! Remember this is for entertainment and a dramatic 5-4 is 100% more entertaining than a 4-2.
Nili has been and will keep being a positive force in the community, we're lucky to have him. I especially treasure the NAC1-3 and (if I recall correctly) he financed the first out of his own pocket? Legend.
NOW - I also agree it wasn't the best to have a player AND tournament host at the same...
Let's be also nice to him and at least give kudos that he again proved himself delivering a very organized and well produced event.
He also said that he wouldn't have done on AOE4 if he could go back in time.
But let's not kid ourselves that it raises many eyebrows that he assigns $100K+ to a...
Let's never forget the fact that if AOE4 was a good game and enjoyable to watch (it's neither), most of the community will be supportive. I would, for instance.
But in its current state AOE4 is just not good. I'm even surprised 7K people tune in for N4C.
I think T90 has given a good answer for this. Hidden Cup will come back, it's just a matter of waiting a bit longer.
It's just sad that instead of further re-invigorating the community AOE4 is taking everything down with it.
I'm not happy either with N4C and likely won't watch, but let's not blame Nili only for it.
1- Microsoft hired him, knowing full well the conflicts of interest. Memb himself (I think) said he would've also taken the offer if it was to him. Microsoft could've hired someone like Crazini instead...
That's great news for T90 and hopefully for the community if FB starts paying up for tournaments as well.
I at least will give FB Gaming a shot before writing it off
