It's relevant as the option for qualifiers, or not, was decided by the sponsor. Continuing to harp on it "for this tournament" is irrelevant. I would respectfully suggest (again) that we create a new thread to discuss the merits of participant selection for future events where a choice is possible.
The discussion as to who belongs in what tournament and how they get there is a great one and one that needs to be had. Maybe open a general thread about it since this tournament had set rules mandated by the sponsor and they are not going to change?
All good thoughts though the invitees this time around were selected by the players themselves, not some "largely arbitrary number that exists on their voobly profile."
Would be amazing but will never happen. At the end of the day it's business. Why would Nili highlight the competition in what will probably be the most watched series of the whole event?
Would having written it in the manual that tournaments x, y and z, would be taken into account have made a difference? It's not like anyone can take a time machine and change those tournaments.
Very interesting read indeed, well researched and composed. Only mistake was mine by initially assigning the credit to the wrong person.:facepalm::facepalm:
There is a spreadsheet somewhere but basically rating at the time of the signup closing plus highest rating were joined to create average rating. Then points were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes in recent 1v1 tournaments. I don't remember the exact values but probably not important...
Oh crap @Tarsiz my man, i ****ed up and assumed the write up was Chrazini as he is the admin. Total titanic on my part and I won't even blame the alcohol. A thousand apologies for assigning credit to the wrong person. All the praise stands though, this time accredited to the right person @Tarsiz...
I like to think I'm as compassionate as they come, however making exceptions due to it creates a bit of a mess if everyone comes up with their own compassionate reasons to warrant an extension and we end up with a summer start date with all the extensions.
Memo to self, don't ever even remotely...
For some reason , though not stated in the manual, I thought the purpose of playing 15 games in the last two weeks was to prevent players from sitting on a particular rating (purposely low or high). Did I misunderstand the intent of the rule?
Now that we are less than two weeks away from the official start I wonder if players will start to play the official map more often. Looking at the spreadsheet it seems like a lot of players are not playing a whole lot as only some of the ELOs seem to be moving.
