Re: What is/was for you the MOST important factor to reach 2
Hey Gerry,
I don't doubt that Roger Federer would be good at badminton for example. After all it's a racket sport and there are a number of basic similarities with tennis. Federer would also have an advantage because of his strength...
Re: What is/was for you the MOST important factor to reach 2
This post from whack needs serious acknowledgement. This is what I mean when I say someone is practicing with the goal of actively trying to improve. This is the type of learning that Viper (and every other high rated player) will...
Re: What is/was for you the MOST important factor to reach 2
Yes, this guy is denying genetics.
Sure, for simple physical tasks such as running, jumping or squatting, genetics is much more important because it dictates things like skeletal proportions, musculature, height, weight, body type...
Re: What is/was for you the MOST important factor to reach 2
I believe the best book on the subject of Deliberate Practice, pitched at a level that most people can understand, is "The Talent Code" by Daniel Coyle.
Download a copy and read more if you're interested.
Re: What is/was for you the MOST important factor to reach 2
How does human evolution know what AOC is? Are you saying that at the point where the sperm fertilises the egg, that person is destined to be good at AOC? Don't forget, AOC is something that didn't exist until 1999, but we apparently...
Re: What is/was for you the MOST important factor to reach 2
Here's an excerpt from chapter 2 the book "Talent is Overrated" by Geoff Colvin:
Read it and tell me if you think Tiger Woods was born with an innate talent for Golf.
Re: What is/was for you the MOST important factor to reach 2
Support (from family, friends etc.) makes no difference. Provided they're not actively trying to stop you playing or something.
Skill (talent, micro/macromanagement, speed) is developed through practice over a long period of time...
Was Tatoh linked to any other team? As far as I could work out he was just on his own, teaming up with Error occasionally. It's not like Tyrant have stolen him from the Aftermath or Nabs etc.

You'll see that out of his last 160 RM 1v1 games you'll see that 134 of them have been played on Arena. That's 83% of games on this clown map. If you go back beyond the last 160 games you'll see that he played at least 50% of his 1v1 games on arena. Are...
What makes me smile about this whole thing is that many people are acting as if everyone that plays AOE2 has a brother that plays AOE2 and lives in the same house as them.
I'd love to see a "show of hands" to see how many 2k+ rated players live with someone who is also a 2k+ rated player. Just...
If Feanor was the only one that ever touched the mouse and keyboard during these games against slam, then he still deserves massive respect. If I beat slam like this with Viper telling me what to do, but I was still the one actually doing it, I'd be really happy.
Seconds of "in game" time:
Creating a villager = 25.
Researching loom = 25.
Building a house with one villager = 25.
Advancing to Feudal Age = 130.
Advancing to Castle age = 160.
Standard civs start with 4 population already created i.e. 1 scout and 3 villagers.
Therefore the perfect Feudal...
Sure it's tough for lower rated players to do. I've seen Viper, Lojza and Miguel do it on arena recs I have watched in the past. Edie is 2k5 on arena. He's not exactly a noob. He has less excuse for not being able to do it than most people who play this game.
It would be great if TaToH signed up. I get that Arena might not be his favourite map, but he knows the expansion civs better than anyone and he's a threat to anyone in any tournament. Nice to see that slam has signed up. 3 Tyrants ain't bad!
+1,000,000.
Rorarimbo has made my point far in a far more concise manner than I ever could, assuming that he meant to say "until they do it's fairly disappointing.
This is what I was driving at. MOA5 is still going to be amazing yes, but as Rorarimbo says, these 3 players are active, well...
Out of the 13 players mentioned Goku, Chris, JuanNNN and Lojza are the inactive ones. I think you'd be surprised how well Pike would do. You realise the last reply was aimed at Dracont right? KOTD doesn't mean **** to me. I don't even know who fanjito is. If it's not arena, it's not.
