Just as it is perfectly fair for them to be on a server with unknown (but similar for both) ping. They are both at the same disadvantage relative to optimal, just as both are at the same disadvantage in a case where their pings are +80.
But somehow it's better to have 2 European players play on an American server, adding +80 ping to both? The sole reason for that action being the very same: to preserve anonymity?
I'm sure this would be a headache to implement, but you could set up separate alias accounts for the 16 players for practice, where players use anonymous accounts independent of their hero name to set up practice. I'm envisioning a discord text lobby where "Keebler" can join and see "Oreo"...
I don't see how that would preclude the possibility of his having flawed English; many if not most native speakers have flawed English.
I don't think he actually has flawed English, especially in comparison to other "more loved" players such as TheViper and DauT.
Hamburger I could see; it's competitive enough, though it does tend toward "degenerate" gameplay.
Nile Delta is an absolute no. It is ridiculously uncompetitive. One player can have a 2 or more vill lead just by virtue of a better spawn.
I don't think we should necessarily be hyper-focused on making the maps have the same play or same balance as a normal start where we just skipped the first 2.5 minutes. That's already out the window because of the flexibility that 9 vills allows you on your build. You can go anywhere from 3 all...
Not sure this is true, Paradox Interactive continues to sell games and expansions/DLCs at high prices, while also adding in dozens of small cosmetic packs (such as skins) on those same games in the $2-10 range. The final prices for complete bundles of EUIV, Stellaris, CK2, etc would make y'all...
Yeah the difference between today's "EAPM" and hypothetical "true" EAPM is like the xckd about determining whether a photo was in a national park versus whether there was a bird in the photo.
It would probably be a multi-year and multi-million-dollar machine learning project that would require...
Yeah, it heavily depends on if you do repeated clicks. If spam click twice, thrice, or more every time you tell a unit to do something, you could have double or more (e)APM than a player who does the same things with one click. And yes, this is counted towards eAPM because the game state...
Just found an ancient web site that mentions this gate crushing thing as a feature. It has a screenshot of alpha/beta graphics:

Yep, memories overwritten by and mixed with dreams and thoughts of what would be cool, along with memories of AoE1.
EDIT: Although I guess "Mandela Effect" refers to this happening as a mass phenomenon.
These have never been part of AoE2 ever since its first official release. One or both may possibly have been in an alpha or beta version. Relic carts are a scenario editor unit, and a standard unit in AoE1 (called artifacts).
I think you might be laboring under a misunderstanding of the reddit post. The post claimed that an identifiable "meta" begins at ~1500 Elo, but not that it stops or tapers off at some higher point.
The main argument was that the game is actually easier to read in some ways once you get high...
The "Celts" civ in AoE2 imo represents the Celts that were never part of the Roman world, such as Picts, Scots, and Irish.
The Britons is a bit a messy on the other hand, since they represent both the post-Romanized Celtic/Brittonic peoples and the meld with Anglo-Saxon and later Norman...
The Khazars' history isn't exactly well-attested, but it's believed the ruling class were Jewish by religion, not by ethnicity. They converted to Judaism just as neighboring nomadics converted to Manicheanism, Christianity, or Islam.
"Turks" in our day means people of Turkey, but in the...
Judging by the hint (just ignore the whole actual puzzle part it's a red herring), Houseboat is going to be the standard start on all maps, both singleplayer and multiplayer
