I'm old enough to remember when the narrative was Hera could never get past Lierey in tournaments, now the roles have reversed a bit over the last couple of years. I think the most likely explanation is they're extremely close in skill level and when every final between them seemingly ends 5-4...
I’d favor him to win tomorrow but just slightly. Every S tier event final between him and Lierey seems to come down to a final game one way or the other. And viper at his best is still right there with them.
Congrats to Hera.
I always root for Lierey in these events and events and wanted him to win today but couldn’t help but feel good for Hera as he completed the comeback. It seems like he takes the losses to heart a bit more than Viper/Lierey and he’s had so many heartbreaking losses over the...
Looks like a healthy crowd to me. Nili and Dave are fantastic. I remember when both started casting years back and it's amazing how much they've improved over the years. Same can be said for all the prominent casters we are lucky to have, actually
I have to watch more games to form a more informed opinion but my general sense over the past 2-3 years has been that Viper vs Lierey, Lierey vs Hera, Viper vs Hera etc are all basically 55-45 propositions at best on any given day. No result would surprise me when those players match up because...
All the RBW's have been amazing, hope the series continues for years to come. Congrats to Tatoh on the biggest win of his career, he played as good as I've ever seen him play and I'm sure that payday will be life changing for him at least in the short term.
Looks like I spoke too soon on Lierey's form. He looked like vintage Lierey today. That was really enjoyable to watch. Great job by Memb and Nili casting the series too, its been a while since I've tuned in for an entire set and they were great.
What has happened to Lierey? Can't say it's good for the competitive scene that the brightest talent since Viper has fallen off to this degree over the last year.
Last competitive event I saw Lierey in was legitimately the worst form I've seen him in since he was an up and coming player. I was really taken aback by that.
With that in mind I'd probably say Viper is the favorite but it wouldn't surprise me if Vinchester made a deep run.
First few minutes of watching Hera's video I thought he was overreacting. As it went on and he provided more context/clips I began to see why he was bothered by it.
I'll admit I don't watch as many games as I once did so my opinions re: top 4 are probably a bit outdated. It certainly seems like Vinchester/Villese/Jordan have closed the gap. A year ago I made the argument that Lierey/Hera had separated themselves and were pushing competitive Aoe2 to new...
This is his second time losing to Villese in a major tournament (RBW 3)
Maybe a bad matchup stylistically or just an off day. Villese has come a long ways though, seems like him and Vinchester are knocking on the door of the top-4... could throw Jordan in that group too although I still think...
