People can post whatever they want but, man, do they act as if they didn't expect this kind of response... In my opinion as a complete noob AOE2 is currently super fun to play. The balance changes should probably focus on making the game more enjoyable for people with lower elo since they are the vast majority of players. And that's exactly what the changes do, I guess. It's their job, mate, not their life. The fact that they play video games doesn't make them less professional in what they do.
