It's never been anything else
With $1.5 million dollars in tournaments all but confirmed over the next 12 months.. I'm quite content with the stability aoe4 has.. it doesn't need to be more popular than Aoe2, or even on the same level as aoe1 which has more viewers in the last 12 months than...
Totally agree that aoe4 missed an opportunity at release, and even though most stuff has been fixed that people wanted.. I don't think it will ever be as popular as aoe2, and I don't think that's a secret!
But it sure is disheartening to come on here (I actually came here today wanting to post...
I can only speak for myself,
In puppypaw vs vortix game 3 yesterday I was over the moon at how good puppy was playing, In game 7 I was in tears laughing over how well puppypaw was able to defend a relic
In Themista vs wam game 3 I was worried my favourite player would be knocked out, in game 4...
I think that the thing that is missing here is the aoe4 community doesn't want to be as big as the Aoe2 community.
With some of the best competition the game has ever had seen played yesterday to qualify for a 300k tournament, and a $1 million tournament in the works, new maps every week...
Any regular day with no tournaments at all on fortnite has roughly the same viewership (~70k) as the biggest viewership ever on Aoe2.
Let that sink in.
Really, aoe in general is a tiny fish in a big pond.
Grubby started streaming for the grand final and had a few thousand viewers, same with beastyqt, a German streamer started and the majority of egctv viewers were German who id imagine left for the German stream which had about a thousand
It's great that a variety of personalities got to share...

aoe4 every weekend till end of September to earn points to qualify
Aoe2 two qualifier weekends
Aoe1 invitational
I think they made it clear it's not about viewer numbers when they seemingly announced that a game that averages viewers numbers in the single digits would be included (aoe1)
Sums up my thoughts entirely, I feel as if the aoe4 community wants the franchise as a whole to be successful, more than "our" part of the franchise.
Of course there's certainly always the outlier and nasty person within the aoe4 community as well! But I think the above is such a good mindset...
As an aoe4 fan who doesn't really have an interest watching Aoe2 tournaments by themselves, I would welcome Aoe2 participation in golden league 2 with open arms and would certainly tune in for it and actively choose a player to support
I think you'll find the majority of aoe4 fans don't really...
This reek
You sound very butt hurt.
I'm not going to go into defending aoe4 "for centuries" because at least in the short term - my game has a secure future with tournament funding for at least the next 12 months lol
