Yeah its tragic that new players don't know a game mode. How come they're not proficient at it after 3 games. If you're upset then teach them. I feel your pain, DM tg queue gives actually competitive and enjoyable matches very rarely but banning new players is not even close to a reasonable...- Dr___Mundo

Bans are bad for tournaments (especially for lower levels)
Bans are not bad they just nerf the one tricks, which is NOT a bad thing. Tournaments are meant to measure skill NOT amount of games with your 3 favorite civs.- Dr___Mundo

Why is removing strategies that are unfair and unfun to play against so bad thing? Game is supposed to be FUN. Now more serious reply to the topic. Your chess example is completely flawed. AOE2 is RTS and chess is TBS, you cannot seriously compare the 2 games like that, for TBS that kind of micro managing is pointless but for RTS it is universal across most titles.
