I do not know because I've never watched one but it seemed like an invite only if so how to get invited just place high in a tournament?
The top 8 was invited due to players ranking the top players, I think the invites for the qualifier were based on ladder rankings.IIRC, in Hidden Cup 3 it was based on your ladder ranking, so you'd have to get into the top 32 excluding the players auto-invited (I might getting it confused with another tournament).
Even this would be better, but the current standing no one can play lolI don't think it's necessary ALL open qualify. We all know only 2.2k player have chance, so it could be a 2k+ qualify so players could prove themselves. I think open qualify with 1200,1300 rating players is a waste of time and too much pointless work for the admins in a tournament with thousand of dollars. If players want to play a qualify reach 2k first. Doing this way we could have even loser brackets in qualify.
I don't really know him, but just a quick google search showed that he'd been playing the game for years when he got second, proving my point that you don't become a pro player in just 2 months. And did you know that kid raynor or something he's 16? And got second at blizcon think about that. Anyone can do anything that is the beauty of video games.
You're wrong, 32 of the best players had a chance to qualify for Hidden Cup 3 out of which 8 made it. The players that didn't get a rating high enough realistically had no chance of making it to the main event. If you really are good enough to make it into the main event you would have a rating high enough to get into the qualifier.Even this would be better, but the current standing no one can play lol
As much as people like to complain about the ladder and how it can be "gamed" it's one of the best ranking systems we have. Treat the ladder as the "hidden cup qualifier ... qualifier", no joke, and you can easily get into the hidden cup qualifier, from which you can beat all the other competitors fairly and play in Hidden Cup. Let's face it, aside from one or two exceptions like perhaps hoang, the ladder points tell the truth as far as tournament performance goes. Not as in #1 will automatically get a top tournament result but more like #1 ladder rated player will definitely beat a #50 ladder rated player.
That being said I like how red bull basically allowed anybody to sign up. I think it's a fun thing to do and can allow for some "tournament prep masters" to go further than their rating would suggest. I hope hidden cup qualifiers can be similar to red bull in this, BUT once again running it like it was last time will work just fine.
Hidden Cup is for the best players in the game only, no offense but you don't stand a chance of even not looking ridiculous in a single game against the players who will participate in the qualifiers. This destroys any hope to grow the competitive scene at all because I will never be able to test my metal with any other player until I am 2.2k or 2.3k
This. I mean it is not like there was a 30K prizepool tournament just last week, where you could join 2! qualifiers even if your are a 7yo that hasn't installed the game yet.Hidden Cup is for the best players in the game only, no offense but you don't stand a chance of even not looking ridiculous in a single game against the players who will participate in the qualifiers.
That being said the part I quoted is very wrong; there are continuously tournaments organized for all elos in multiple discord communities and here on AoEZone. It is extremely easy to get into competitive age of empires regardless of your level.
I can't be right with you sorry to tell you that kiddo, but he's a kid, whos played on and off trust me he came out of no where and placed very high but what rank was he on ladder? Very low... You can't be wrong so I'll end that there. As others have suggested there is a huge amount of ways to improve the tournaments around here. Specifically hidden cup 4
When Reynor was 9, he beat his father for the first time. When he was 12 years and 40 days old, he became the youngest player in the history of StarCraft to reach Grandmaster rank
