SC2 pro scene has been slowly dying for a long time. ActiBliz stopped supporting pro tournaments few years ago. Now that MS owns it as well, have no idea what MS might do with it. Prize pool wise SC2 and AOE2 are pretty equal right now. Last year both had two just over 80k tournaments.
As I was afraid. Finals were a letdown. Good thing that we at least got couple good games from the 3rd place match.
Different observer. NAC had Vodka. HC5 has Mapu. I don't know if Mapu has done anything AOE 2 related since the last Red Bull. He has been the observer in Red Bull events and...
I like that there's a 3rd place match. I like that there's a clear order for top 4. World Cup and other international tournaments usually have bronze medal matches and I often find them more fun than the finals, because sometimes just some crazy **** happens when two disappointed meet each other.
It's well known that pros have a discord channel with devs. Why would they need to make youtube videos on the state of the game, when they can directly discuss with dev team? For clicks? Because that's the only reason. And the team knows that there are issues, they aren't blind.
This isn't...
One of the original reasons for the tournament was to get rid off the "Viper effect." Some players couldn't handle the pressure of playing against The Viper. They lost the game in their minds before it even started. MBL was the most notorious for this. He would play amazingly against anyone else...
Both said afterwards that the group stage series was basically a showmatch to them. They had no personal stakes in the game. Hera was 1 or 2, Viper was 3 or 4 and they were going to be in the same bracket and meet in the semifinals anyway.
Even if that is true, I don't see the problem. GamerLegion has put a lot of effort to promote AOE2. During NAC 5, their social media was full of AOE2 posts. Last year they launched AOE 2 youtube channel. They had their own tournament and helped Nili with NACs. They have given back as well. All...
Exactly. That's how broken monks are. Only counter to monks are monks. And defender has a huge advantage because you can hide your monks in tcs.
Like the Canberra game between Daut and Andy. There were over 50 monks on the map at one point. And Daut had 20+ in queue. Or Hera vs Tatoh on Arena...
First Hera-Viper game showed why monks need more nerfs. Viper's strat was pretty much stopped with one monk. Of course Hera made more monks, but one was enough to convert a knight that took out Viper's mangonel. And it was gg.
Criticism is fine, but calling him traitor or accusing him of corruption etc is going too far, when he has put so much of his time and own money to the scene. One of the reasons why NAC 5 will be the last one is because Nili has been forced to use to his own savings every time.
They aren't completely wrong. Best resent example is how Nili was treated here after he announced that N4C was AOE 4 tournament and he didn't invite Memb to NAC 4. You can criticize those decisions, but some people went too far and mods did nothing.
Problem with Arabia is that it's the most meta map. You play meta or you die. Most civs have only 1 or maybe 2 strategies for Arabia. You don't see any crazy strats in Arabia anymore in tournaments. And forget about team games, it's knights and crossbows. I don't remember last time I saw a great...
