There's plenty wrong with DE since its release, and even now- pathing in particular which has continued to break in new and ridiculous ways is frustrating.
But, at the end of the day, DE has kept this game alive and kept it exciting and fun for many of us. The lobby system had its moments but...
I'm definitely not doom posting! I agree that the game is in a great place- I don't think the "hype" is actually dead. I was just trying to come up with possible reasons why someone might think that. It's not an opinion I share. There's definitely lots of new growth, new top players, etc. that...
I don't come on here a whole lot because there doesn't seem to be really interesting conversations about the game I love, taking place. Every tournament thread, it's some variation of
"I can't believe X caster wasn't invited, such BS"
"This tournament organizer is employed by MS, of course...
Hype is a very nebulous term that is completely subjective. I think the game overall is in a great place, there are a ton of people watching and playing.
However, I think the reason it might seem like there's less hype is because it's usually fairly clear who will win the S-tier tournaments...
I don't see any problem with it, it's weird that literally every game you start by building 2 houses before doing anything else. There are a couple civs with housing bonuses (Huns, Incas, Slavs) for different buildings. It's frustrating when you're running out of space to house your pop...
Thank you HueHue for everything you did for the AoE2 community! I'm very sorry to hear of your health issues. I didn't know you personally but you were someone who I saw involved in so many different events and tournaments, it's a ton of work and something that can go under the radar. Best...
RiuT is one of my all time favorite players! And such a nice guy as well. I loved hopping on Twitch and talking to him for a little bit. I hope he is doing well these days.
.....Why is that a problem. Can you micro towers? Not every unit/building needs to require a ton of micro in order for it to be viable. The whole game in general requires a ton of APM and processing ability, it shouldn't be solely dictated by who can stop micro arbs the best.
I don't think anyone would disagree that the issues we've encountered with DE, especially in the first year where it felt like the pathing went completely off the rails at times was very frustrating! But also not surprising given the huge amount of changes and overhauling they did to make DE...
Because, I don't need to play a patch to have an initial educated opinion on it? You already have a negative opinion on it, but apparently that's valid. Nothing in this patch is "complete overhaul of all civs in a 23 year old game." Although there are a LOT of changes in the patch, none of them...
One of the highlights of my day is logging on to AoEZone and like clockwork, Influenza is complaining about the devs/balance/pathing/the game in general. I've never met someone who plays so much, who hates the game so much lmao.
I think this patch is absolutely fantastic. They did a great job...
These questions are always odd to me honestly. The whole point of elo is to put a number on someone's skill in relation to others, deciding whether that elo is "high level" takes an objective measurement and makes it completely subjective.
The objective facts are, based on elo distributions...
I think it's a problem that they're so dominated by skirms, I think skirms should be more of a soft counter to them, so possibly increase their cav archer armor or reduce the bonus damage they receive. I'd also consider adding +1 attack to their ranged attack, 5+4 isn't that impressive for an...
It's unfortunate to see some of the big names in casting AoE2 don't get along, but that is life. For a variety of reasons, most of which those of us not involved may never know, Nili and Memb don't get along and Memb is a polarizing figure.
I think it's unfortunate that we have to vilify one...
