It's my first time watching a Regicide Rumble, and it's now my favorite tournament. The matches are just incredible, I laughed so much, and it's so full of surprises!

What does the Quantum Computing thing do? The first time I used it after researching it, it seemed to be an advisor that was telling me what was best to research next, because the first time it's output was a research name (forgot which). After that it would output numbers, that eventually...
I think picking one (or a few) civs you enjoy is a good way to learn at first. You will still be learning a bit about the other civs by facing them, and then checking the tech tree after the game to figure out what else you could have done better against them.
I agree, the problematic situations arise from their eco being too good. I think removing free hand-cart but keeping wheelbarrow would have tuned them nicely...
