The old system took the average as well, just not for Elo gain/loss calculation. Looks like the old system inflated your clan's Elos judging by the low winrates - now that you've all lost a bunch of Elo you should have more balanced games going forward, barring any enemy smurfs.
Canary's swings are ~450, rainman's swings are more like 250. Combined with the very low short game winrate as OP said (and a lot of 1min and 0min losses).

The number of pro games in that stat is likely very very small. At 1400-1800 Elo they have the 10th highest WR on arabia this patch. Play rate is low because Mayans are similar but better (and Aztecs are similar and perceived as better).
