Although not applicable to HC as everything is set in stone now, I think a sensible idea is to have 2 qualifiers, but not both open.
Have a "pro" qualifier with the top 24-32 players in the scene; you can use any number of metrics like ATP, S-tier ATP, Tournament Elo, 1v1 Elo, or a combination...
Hey there, mates, The AoE Liquipedia needs your help! The entire site is working through existing images to bring them up to a certain standard, and there is one particular image that is causing trouble: Legion Clan's logo.
For those unfamiliar, Legion Clan was a massive clan spanning...
There used to be one in the early days of r/aoe4, though that was a low-effort rule more than a no-memes rule. People misinterpreted what it was and made a big fuzz that they were not allowed to post memes even though they were. Then the rule was removed... and memes were rarely posted anyways...
I am entirely the wrong person to answer this :P. In my mind, if people want to participate in organized competition, and there are resources available to do so (Admins), then viewers are not really the point.
As in, I was happy helping out in NC23 even though none of it meant I would be...
This is one potential implementaion with that general format in mind:
Each Continental Qualifier (3) is made up of a Swiss group stage with 9 rounds. Each round is a Pa2 format, 3 points for a 2-0 win, 1 point for a 1-1 draw, and 0 points for a 0-2 loss. Each round has a maximum of 3hrs run...
Hey folks,
For those that don't know, I was part of the admin team for the latest Nations Cup (2023). One of the main contributions I had was helping setup the Start.gg and Matcherino pages, as well as coming up with the formula used for the initial Qualifier seeding that was then revised by...
As seen on: https://liquipedia.net/ageofempires/The_Warchief_Club & http://risingempires.gg/ 1111111 (Not claiming ownership of the format, just sharing an existing example of it working)
Obviously, you won't hear me complaining about the format; I think it's great! Open Swiss, regular...
I am an avid fan of team tournaments (in all esports), and I think it would be a great way to expand the AoE 2 scene.
It can 100% be done by smaller teams. See for example: the Rising Empires League (REL). Yes, it's only 2v2 and for AoE4, but nothing about it can't be used on AoE 2. Donations...
Hey Mates,
For those who might not be in the loop, for the past two months, the rest of the Rising Empires volunteer team and I have been organizing and playing through a 2v2 league with three distinct divisions of play featuring over 4K USD in prizes!
We are a volunteer team of casters...
happy to say, that was my creation 11. LP does not allow pictures to be used as logos, thus the need for a logo-fy cursed hotdog, that is definitely not a sandwich.
The league has gathered over $4k in donations, and with signups closing tomorrow, these will be the six invited teams:

Love the deep payouts, but it is sad to see Single Elimination qualifiers show up again. Obviously, having two is better than one, but the strength of seeding is just too great, especially considering how with no invited players there will be 2-4 players in each of Hera/Viper/Liereyy/TaToH/Yo's...
I know AoE4 is not zone's cup of tea. But I still wanted to post it, as I did before with the Arabian Open Masters, not so much to get a lot of signups or hype about it but to showcase grassroots community sustained tournaments that are not single Elim qualifiers into a single Elim bracket.
In...
Hello Everyone,
I am happy to announce the formation of the Rising Empires League! Following the widely successful Rising Empires 2v2 Showdown, the RE volunteer team was excited to prepare another team event, this time larger than any other.
A thrilling 2v2 Team League for Age of Empires IV...
