I hereby announce my new 2v2 tournament, a Nomad start maps exclusive, with more than a touch of randomness! ELO brackets ranging from 1000-2k+. Signups at Akkal discord: https://discord.gg/U3S2x7E4b2 Signup deadline: May 24th
Brackets distribution:
- 1000-1250 (16 players + potential qualifier)
- 1250-1500 (16 players) + QF
- 1500-1650 (16 players + QF)
- 1650-1800 (16 players + QF)
- 1800-2000 (16 players + QF)
- *2000+ 8-player bracket
- (* Can be extended to 16, if there is adequate interest).
The players are, as a rule, based on an average of their individual current and peak ELO, and will be placed in brackets divided like this. If the players’ ELOs cross multiple brackets, they will have to expect to be placed in the highest one of the two. 40 ranked 1v1 games will be required, as well as recent 1v1 activity. Three players are allowed per team, for ease of scheduling:
Progress:
- The first 8 teams to sign up will be granted a spot (if ELO requirements are met).
- The remaining 8 places in the 16-player brackets will be “unlimited”, but these will have to play a qualifier set during week before the main event starts.
- Seeding for the RO16 will be decided after all qualifier matches have finished.
- The teams will play BO3 single elimination until the final, which will be BO5. See “rules” for specifics regarding civs and picks.
Rules:
- Standard random map settings, (see tournament handbook for screenshot)
- Spectator delay: 2 minutes
- No smurfing: Players are expected to have at least 40 ranked 1v1 games played upon signup, and to have had recent 1v1 activity. If you don't have 40 ranked 1v1's played, you need to complete them before the deadline.
- No villager fighting before minute 5, walling in enemy TC within the same period also not allowed.
- Shooting enemy boar or deer or palisade walling in resources, however, is ok.
- Make sure that hidden civ is not enabled for game 1 and game 2, so the players can see that all are going random G1 and picking reverse for G2. A decider game 3 will have Hidden civs enabled.
- In the event of a disconnect, a save and restore should always be attempted. If a restore is not possible, the match will need to be replayed from scratch.
- Slinging : While banned in many tournaments, I have decided not to impose any rules on slinging in the Nomad tournament. I think sling may be needed in many situations, i.e. if a player is completely squeezed in between two others and needs to recover somehow, from a position far behind.
Single elimination rounds with the following conditions:
BO3:
BO3:
- Game 1: Nomad, random civs
- Game 2: Loser of G1’s home map, civs REVERSED from G1
(Ex.: Team 1 randoms Huns+Britons and Team 2 randoms Teutons+Mayans. For game 2, team 1 will need to play Teutons-Mayans, and team 2 Britons-Huns, but the losing team of game 1 gets a strategic advantage of picking home map.) - Game 3: Loser of G2’s home map: Hidden civ, free pick
BO5 (final):
- For the final, one map ban per team will be included.
- Game 1: Nomad, random civs
- Game 2: Loser of G1’s home map, civs REVERSED from G1
- Game 3: Loser of G2’s home map: Hidden civ, free pick
- Game 4: Loser of G3’s home map: Hidden civ, no reuse of G3
- Gam5 5: Loser of G4’s home map: Hidden civ, no reuse of civs from G3 or G4.
Map Pool:
Game 1: Always Nomad
Home map picks from the following pool:
Water Nomad
Nile Delta
Pilgrims
Land Nomad
African Clearing / Bedouins
NSS Settlers
Megarandom Nomad (only 1000-1250 and 1250-1500)
Streaming / Casting
The event, with exception to the semi finals and finals, will be open for POV-streaming and casting to anyone. At event start, a banner will be provided, which I ask streamers to make visible on their channel between games (it does not need to show in-game, as that will obstruct the game footage), as well as adding a command leading to my twitch channel, and a note that I, Akkal, am the host.
For players streaming POV, it will require a 2-minute stream delay. Since the games require a spectator delay, casters do not need to worry about adding delay to their stream in the event of casting games live.
Prize pool
Any donations during the event will benefit at least 50 % to the prize pool. I will also add 1$ per subscription to my channel for the duration of the event.
For this event, the only brackets, for now, to compete for a prize pool will be the following:
2000+ (50 $ to the winning team)
1800-2000 (40 $ to the winning team)
1650-1800 (30 $ to the winning team)
Depending on the result of subs and/or donations, prize pool is subject to change, and a 2nd prize may be added.
Hope to see you around for some Nomad action!
