Hey guys, so I have been thinking of ways to buff spanish. They are probably one of the weakest 1 v 1 civ right now. What are Spanish known for? Strong Vils, Monks/Missionaries? After the introduction of Flemish Militia with the Burgundians, I thought, why doesn't Spanish have something like that. Supremacy already makes their villagers pretty strong, but what if we gave them military stances or patrol function in imperial age? Inquisition is already a very powerful tech, but the downside is you need a castle for that, which makes the monk rush wayy too late to perform. So why not give Spanish free inquisition as a civ bonus, a weaker version if you think its too OP, but just a way to buff their monks/missionaries (Teutons have monk resistance as a bonus, so why not monk conversion bonus). Missionaries might need to have their speed nerfed by a few points, like equal to a camel without husbandry for balance purposes (camels with husbandry can catch a missionary with husbandry, but a knight cannot). Pushing supremacy as a castle age Utech should not make that much of a difference, and the Imp - tech as I mentioned before.
Finally, I understand vils with patrolling and military stances could be too broken. But if we can balance it somehow, like how flemish militia are viable, then why not. Also remember, spanish are very likely to die or fall very far behind in eco in castle age against other civs anyways. They're like goths in a way, where u have to boom it out to survive castle age.
