Is it me or is this the worst map pool since the release? I cant even decided which map not to ban. They are all just trash.

The "official" random map scripts are trash, inside or outside the pool. There, I said it.
Random Maps are what makes or breaks this game, yet so little official attention goes to it.
Changes to maps come way too late, only after many complaints and it takes community-organized tournaments and player-made maps to influence the official maps (Kotd3 / Memb / Chrazini > official Arabia or Four Lakes / Cross). Didn't see any mention or thanks there...
I know its a 20-year old game and I know not to expect too much from Microsoft, but the way the whole online system is being done is just amateurism. Besides the random map scripts, I also mean the UI, matchmaking, balancing, bug making/fixing, replays, stream/tourny support...
It's sad really, because: "we love dis game!"
This is true if you like Arena and Arabia but if you actually want to play the rotating maps the mappool is still very relevant. With the shorter lifespan of any given map pool plus ban and preferred options, I don’t think there is a point about complaining about any particular map pool.
Hello Crybaby #2. As I said in the other topic already: these maps are voted for. Most popular in the community this time as the next most likely will have alot of open maps again. You have no right to cry cause YOU dont like the maps. Your opinion does not matter more than others, thats not how a democratic system works. Other people have to deal with the arabia copies all the time, and now you have to adjust yourself for once. BooHoo
This would be a relevant point if there had been a selection of open land maps in the voting selection. As it was, the only option which could be considered such was ravines, which a lot of people dislike for other reasons. So long as the selection of maps we can vote for has some variety between open land maps, water/hybrid and closed land maps, then sure, talking about it being the will of playerbase has some relevance. When it's a choice between hideout, fortress, Yucatan and mountain pass, it's a bit trickier to read much into what the playerbase actively wants in the pool.Hello Crybaby #2. if you put forest nothing, that map will be voted also, talking about how democratic works is not the point here, the point here is that the maps devs put in the map pool are trash, as simple as that.
False premiseif you put forest nothing, that map will be voted also,
To avoid it being a Chinese fes I guess?also i dont understand why we start with extra vils, but not extra res like in RF.

As I said earlier in the other mappool is trash topic:
KILL MAPROTATION
Nobody needs it. We had one month were the whole community agreed to have the best mappool forever. And it was in July with 7 super decent balanced maps (It was like: Arabia, Arena, Islands, Cross, Hideout, Acropolis, Atacama or so, super tournament maps), the only thing missing was prefered map. But no, it was the month where devs decided to let some players with 20 fake accounts vote what map the rest of the community is forced to play. What nonsense, just because they failed to make a good mappool rotation, they put the community in responsibility so they start hating each other for not getting the result they want rather the devs. But devs implemented that system and devs pre-choose which maps are up to vote like real dictators. Democracy as a PR label. There is simply no need for mappool rotation. People just want a decent common mappool of very good standard maps they can play on how they feel like. And if they wanna add clown maps like Socotra to it and try their best for a match, so be it, but there is no need of having socotra in the common mappool everyone needs to share.
There is no need of abusing the positive image a democratic decision has to get rid of responsibility. There is no need to split the community and hate each other every 2 weeks for what the devs failed to achieve.
If devs want to promote a certain map to be tested out, then they can use their fancy events and give everyone a star that survived Nile delta without brain collapse.
Make semi-individualized mappools.
It doesnt matter who votes, there will always be hatred. There is simply no necessity and no requirement for a global democratic system. What map you play only interests two people, you and your opponent. Where are the polls on what to eat thursdays in the week with your friends ? Ah we dont need those on a global level. You just go to that restaurant you can agree on in your group and the people in the restaurant dont care and eat their stuff. Solving everything with democracy is what kills democracy.I don't agree with this because it's not people who play the maps voting for what they are. It's mostly the single player only aoe forum people voting for it. The same people that suggest buffing top 3 civs for historical accuracy or to "Fix a gaping hole in their abilities"
To avoid it being a Chinese fes I guess?
Preaching to the choir!Don't feel like arguing so I'll just state the obvious:
1. THIS IS THE BEST 1v1 MAP POOL SO FAR.
2. IT FOLLOWS THE WORST 1v1 POOL SO FAR.
You plebs can discuss the details and other unimportant stuff.
