After a looooooong wait we’re able to present you the maps of the contest!
First of all, thanks to every map maker who accepted the task. I think we ended up with crazy good maps and I’m really happy with how the map pool has ended, and excited to see how those maps will play out. They are all very beautiful and we’re hoping they will be the theatre for the most interesting gameplay in the tournament!
AlgernonR maps
Nexus
A very open map with extra ore and fish in the centre. The batches of trees around the starting bases will not be sufficient to sustain a healthy economy in the long term, players will rapidly need to migrate to the corners of the map where thick but unwallable forests can be found.
Shoals
A hybrid map with a focus on water. The players' islands are connected by a very narrow line of shallows. There is some fish in the back, but the richest waters are in the middle, near the expected front-line. Will the players go for the safe but scarce fish boom in the back or will they venture in the middle near the battlefield with their precious fishing ships and expose them to the enemy fire?
Chrazini maps
Llanganati
All of the Incas gold is awaiting the player bold enough to chop through the jungle. Those spots are very open to the other players' raids, but the starting gold is really thin for everyone so time is running out… Who is going to be the first to discover the great lost treasure of the Andean cordillera?
Rockslide
A terrible natural disaster shattered the whole region not too long ago, bringing political instability to the table. Each clan is going to look for primary resources to rebuild their cities, but will have to venture out of their hidey-hole through the wild open fields to find bigger resource deposits.
Henk maps
Crusade
Nomadic start: A mysterious call from the city in the desert, has reunited all the tribes around the country in this small area. Now, everyone will have to make a camp and fight for the resources scattered around the map and for the relics inside the city.
Mud Pool
The fog never dissipates around the centre swamp area. Treacherous terrain will prevent building on it but armies might be able to surprise one another through tactical positioning. Lots of extra hunt to be found in the marshland, but the area is not for the fainted heart.
Zetnus maps
Eye
A hybrid goldrush-type map, with two lakes in the north and south corner. Be careful though, someone’s looking at you at all time… Will you be able to handle the pressure?
Random River
Your scouts have reported that an imposing body of water is shaping the landscape in the area, but where is it exactly? You will need more crucial scouting intel to adapt your strategy.
And the map from the contest:
