most of all the game is very unfair without small trees, because the playeron the bottom of the map can never build good lumbercamps on back woodlines.
I manage to do this. Do you mean never within the confines of how fast pros must play?

i have no idea what level you play at, but a good lumbercamp is not just a lumbercamp without a gap towards the wood. and if you cannot see the lumbercamp you cant really judge some things. also i guess it is almost impossible to trap 2 vils in a 1 tile gap and build the lumbercamp then. and those are things to maximise efficency that not only pros do.
I would heavily disagree! i find small trees much more pleasing to look at, but thats a matter of taste i guess. It is similarly inarguable however that small trees makes the game worse aesthetically so there is room to talk about whether this sacrifice is worth whatever is being added to the gameplay by the mechanics that require it.
Are we really trying to have a discussion on whether small trees actually makes the game easier to play ? Because it's not even a question, of course it does. If you play with big trees, good luck seeing holes, placing buildings and quickwalling near woodlines.
If you feel like you can still play fine despite that, good on you. But you **are** playing at an objective disadvantage.
Agree, but the discussion is more like whether this break the "fairness balance".I would heavily disagree! i find small trees much more pleasing to look at, but thats a matter of taste i guess.
Also want to point out that time is an essential ressource in aoe, so being able to do something faster, like finding a good building placement, is obviously increasing the average game quality / level of play.

Yesterday I saw the Age of Mandala mod in action on Zuppi's stream, he has it for tc's.
It does make it a whole lot easier to micro xbow around tcs to snipe vills, because you know exactly where you are still outside of range and thus should never take any damage.
I tried out the mandala mod out of curiosity a couple of weeks ago. Its so incredibly helpful, that I kept it (which I didnt plan on). It feels like with DE modding has gone on a whole new level. Not sure what to think about it..
I dunno, I tried it and it felt too fake and with too much "stuff". The lines were freaking everywhere. In other words it was distracting and not helpful. It seems most others find it very useful though. Maybe just the tc having it would work for me.I tried out the mandala mod out of curiosity a couple of weeks ago. This will clearly cross the line right guys? Why not make a LoS on buildings next ?

it is pretty much exactly the same as the range on buildings both things are crossing a line imo but that is still to be discussed
