About ~1 week ago I got into a discussion (ok yeh an argument) on mbl's stream over whether it's more efficient to replace LC every 2/3 tiles into the forest like most pros do or like every 7/8 tiles like spirit of the law says (link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UEPVFjNgfs) is "math."
I proceeded to rudely point out the SOTL video is nothing more than an unmotivated simulation with some curve fitting and a derivative that would even make my highschool math professor cringe. Therefore it's not math and any real mathematical analysis wouldn't make such ridiculous conclusions.
Well obviously I was talking out of my butt and since I couldn't find a proper calculation from anyone else on the internet I decided to do the analysis myself.
The analysis is not completely finished but from what I have it seems replacing the LC every 2/3 tiles is the most efficient replacement at least under the conditions I used in my analysis (actually according to math, not stupid unmotivated simulations).
And yes this is the dull conclusion that pros are doing it correctly.
Attached is the overly long explanation I typed up.
If anyone knows the "true" values for the diameter of a villager and the time it takes for a villager to cut a tree I would be much appreciated. Also, if there's a place where I can find all that info for other units that would also be helpful. Lastly, I'm not sure how double bit ax/bow saw work (is it 20% chopping bonus from what you have or from base value?) and other civ bonuses as well, etc.. so once I know those things other useful parameters can be investigated.
