Hope I'm not too alte for a little bit of the hype fo this tournament! As always, feedback is aprreciated, and I hope you like the write-up,
JorDan_23 - dogao
2-1
The first match of the Loser's bracket was between JorDan and dogao, having lost to RiuT and Yo, respectively. The structure of the Losers Bracket meant that even these early eliminations would get a chance later. In the first game of Aztec war in Dry Arabia, the game was close. A forward play by dogao seemed to tip things slightly early on, but as Castle Age was reached simultaneously, the game kept close. In the decisive Castle Age combat where micro with mangonels and crossbowmen were crucial however, JorDan came out on top, gaining the advantage with aggressive mangonel shots. Afterward, a swarm of eagles secured him the game. Dogao picked Islands as a home map, as grushing was at this point expected form him. With his strong early feudal age, dogao gained an advantage early on. JorDan tried coming back through a landing, but as this failed, dogao won, placing a decisive game in Ghost Lake. In a highly entertaining game, casted by the players themselves, dogao lost a boar to JorDan early, and decided to wall with double palisades. This negated the drush of JorDan, however, as dogao tried to bring in an unholy amount of sheep recovered throughout the map, JorDans drush conquered them all, in an event dubbed The Sheepening. As the game dragged out, JorDan used a trebuchet to cut a tree, and flood dogao with elite eagle warriors, to seize the game, and reach the LB semifinals, where he was to face BacT.
Lojza - LoveCheng
1-2
In the second Losers Bracket quarter-final, LoveCheng and Lojza faced off in what was potentially a close series. LoveCheng had proved very strong in Arabia games throughout the tournament, and once again versus Lojza. The NaBs player saw an early loss of map control, and LoveChengs aggressive play paid off early on. Lojza failed to ever get a shot back, and the first game went in favor of LoveCheng. However, as Lojza picked Rooster as his home map, LoveCheng seemed to have sweaty palms, and made a few micro-related screw-ups. This played the advantage firmly in the hands of Lojza, who was able to win the game. However, LoveCheng then picked Double Arabia as a home map, and in the aggressive Huns war, the creation of knights proved decisive. LoveCheng was able to smooth his production, and flood Lojza, forcing a 2-1 victory, sending the SY player into the semi-finals, and ensuring that the final 6 was composed of only SY and TyRanT players.
JorDan_23 - BacT
0-2
In the first semifinal, JorDan faced BacT, in a rematch of an entertaining series in the Showdown stage that had ended 4-2 for JorDan. JorDan was probably regarded as the favorite of this, having come off as a victor in the entertaining series against dogao, but BacT proved strong early on. BacT was able to abuse a mistake by JorDan in his wall-off, allowing BacT to make a successful sneak into JorDans base. JorDan tried to hold on, but once BacT was in, it turned out to be impossible to kick him out. Using his presence of archers and skirmishers, BacT slowly forced the game more and more in his favor, and JorDan never got back. The game went in favor of BacT, to the surprise of many. JorDan picked a grush map, Team Islands, as many expected, but was in for a new surprise, as aggressive play by BacT was made without any mistakes. BacT won the little fights that mattered, and in the end, JorDan had to call GG. Surprisingly, BacT got revenge for his Showdown stage loss, and could celebrate a spot in the top four of the tournament, while JorDan was eliminated.
Yo - LoveCheng
2-0
In the second semi-final, the two SY players clashed as a Chinese battle between Yo and LoveCheng drew much attention on the Chinese stream. LoveCheng had been aggressive in Dry Arabia with success earlier in the tournament, but not now. As Yo stole a boar, he firmly seized the advantage, and LoveCheng was forced to boom behind stone walls. However, he wasn't able to truly out boom Yo, whose military was always a step ahead. For the first time in the Maldives, LoveCheng lost a Dry Arabia game. He picked Islands as a home map, but in a very long game, Yo proved once again to China and the world, who was the best from the nation with most active AoC players. In a war that went to Late Imperial, Yo won, putting the score at 2-0, him into the top 4, and firmly securing his position as the best Chinese player, and the star of SY.
