First of all, congratulations to the sponsors, organizers and players, it was a pleasure to follow the tournament.
Often in tournaments, there is a special reward for players who performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament. Usually, the best performance is credited with the MVP - Most Valuable Player badge. I was wondering who this person was in NC '17 and did some analysis.
Below, you will find a list of teams who qualified for the Gold League Knockout Stage, together with some statistics:
Score: number of times, a player achieved the highest score in his team.
MVP: number of times, a player was rewarded with the MVP badge
For your interest, the MVP badge is awarded to the best Damage Dealer of your team.

> value of all enemy resources destroyed or converted (the shown military score * 5)
> + value of all enemy buildings destroyed or converted
The player with the highest of these gets the MVP award.
Nations Cup '17: Most Valuable Players
1. Brazil B
Score MVP dogao 26 12 miguel 18 19 St4rk 14 8 FeAge 7 4
dogao + miguel, a deadly combo. Not losing a single Arabia game is an astonishing achievement. Congratulations to winning Nations Cup '17! Interestingly, Brazil B is the only team which has split Score/MVP badges. While miguel seems to be Brazil B's damage dealer, dogao just dominated by means of score in almost all games.
2. Finland A
Score MVP TheMax 24 14 Zuppi 15 11 NorthernPike 9 10 Rubenstock 5 5 Villese 5 2
At the beginning of the tournament, I expected Zuppi to be Finland's best player. During the progress of the tournament, TheMax seems to have surpassed his countryman. If the enemy allows TheMax to boom freely without early disturbance, he becomes one of the best power players in mid/late game. Personally, he is one of my top picks for NC '17 MVP (besides dogao and miguel).
3. China Frantic
Score MVP happyhappy 20 17 Tim 16 14 vivi 10 5 Whoop 9 6 geoffrey 6 2
I did not expect happyhappy to be China Frantic's best performing player. Rating-wise, one would expect to see Tim and vivi on the top. Especially vivi seems to have underperformed in this tournament, although 3rd place is a great achievement and "underperfomed" is quite exaggerated.
4. Brazil A
Score MVP RiuT 16 9 GoKu 15 8 F1Re 13 8 Alive 3 4 BruH 2 3
Brazil A is one of those teams who had a great line-up but little preparation. Taking this into account, 4th place is already quite a surprising achievement for Brazil A. Of course, one would expect RiuT to be Brazil A's best performer. In one of my favorite games of this tournament (China Frantic vs Brazil A, Game 7), he did show what a power player is able to do with a power civ.
5. China SY
Score MVP Yo 23 12 Paladin (FengXin) 9 10 Lyx 7 5 jibatong 7 5 LoveCheng (yinghua) 6 4
Of course, China's star player Yo is at the top of his team. Seeing them lose horribly against Brazil A was (in my opinion) the biggest upset in this year's Nations Cup. LoveCheng definitely is one of the players I had higher expectations in.
6. Vietnam A
Score MVP CooL 23 19 ACCM 13 9 Yellow (saymyname) 11 6 BacT 7 2
TyRanT member BacT at the bottom of this list, wow. I certainly did not expect him to be Vietnam A's weakness. CooL on the other hand was quite underrated in my analyses. I could not have been more wrong here.
7. Canada A
Score MVP slam 10 8 Hera 10 7 Chris 9 6 mentalist 9 6 Geen 4 3 Ra 3 1
Score and MVP badges are spread quite even among Canada A's players. Of course, one would hope for legend Chris to be at the top of this list. Sadly, his and Hera's comebacks did not seem to be enough.
8. Argentina A
Score MVP Nicov 17 15 Patin 9 5 Millo 8 3 Monoz 6 3 Fedex 5 4 Twigg 3 - JuanNNN 1 -
It is no surprise to see Nicov at the top of this list. Although JuanNNN joined mid-way, it was not enough for Argentina A to secure a better placement. I wonder how Argentina A would have performed if he had joined earlier and with better preparation.
