You're likely right, probably just recency bias on my end
I think the broader point that I was trying to make, that RedBull is being planned by extremely experienced AoE2 vets stands though
If players want a better seed to not have to face such tough players in early rounds, they should compete for better seeding (by performing well in tournaments)
Seeding based on previous qualifier performance just means that 1 bad day would effectively eliminate your chances of advancing...
Would need to have the skill to actually beat the top players, and if you have that skill, isn't it better to also accumulate the elo from winning on your main?
I think my expectation is that their will be a "pack" of contenders in the top 1-8ish range that are 200+ elo over everyone else, so "farming" anyone outside of that elo range won't accumulate meaningful points
But we will see how it shakes out
We will have to just agree to disagree and see how it shakes out, but my strong intuition is that the Top 4 "highest elo achieved" will all be in the last week
Well if we are calling chart, Prisma, Hoang, "farming" then playing anyone who isn't Hera/Viper/Tatoh is farming I guess
In the long run, it doesn't matter. The elo fluctuations in the first weeks of the ladder will be extreme, but over the course of the next *3 months*, the ladder will...
Highest elo ever achieved.
So if Hera grinds to 2000 Elo and then doesn't play for the last two weeks, but 2k elo is still in the top 4 highest achieved, he would qualify, even if the top 4 ladder rankings at the time aren't Hera, assuming they are under 2k elo
He won 3 straight vs. Hera which is where he gained the vast majority of his points
Regardless, since it is based on "highest elo achieved" and not ranking, Hera is still rank #1 for qualification
